The essence of the consultant's role is to develop and improve the management processes and the business leaders' skills, abilities, and results in regards to developing a competitive advantage. It is up to the CEO or business leader to bring the right players to the table to form the core strategic leadership team of the organization.

The Strategy Leadership Team is made up of:

  • The CEO or President
  • 6-8 core team members
  • Cognitively diverse thinkers who will speak their mind
  • Representatives of diverse aspects of the business where there is a natural conflict
  • Members having a direct influence on and day-to-day responsibilities and for the course the company takes
  • Participants with a view of the big picture
  • Participants who support the strategic management process

The Right People On the Bus

This is in line with Collin's concept of getting the right people on the bus. The best process in the world cannot produce quality outputs without qualified people. On the other hand, a sound process and broad participation will produce superior results from average people. You don't need superstars to be a superior organization.

Authentic Engagement

Other members of the organization will be engaged in a highly participative manner in order to tap the collective wisdom and creativity of the organization. A variety of thinking types brings diversity to the process. This results in stronger strategy, comprehensive plans, and more successful deployment.
